Senior Instrumentation and Controls Specialist
REPORTS TO: Manager, Electrical & Instrumentation
Position Summary:
The dual role of the Instrumentation and Controls Specialist is to oversee all
instrumentation and control needs of a project from start to finish. This
position provides an interaction with other disciplines such as process
engineering for P&ID development, electrical for PLC I/O schematics, mechanical
for the correct location of instrumentation. Because of these requirements this
position requires excellent communication skills. In addition to the interaction
with other disciplines the Instrumentation and Controls Specialist is required
to develop instrument indices, specifications, and purchasing of said
instrumentation and controls.
Position Responsibilities:
- Participate in P&ID development.
- Produce Instrument Indexes for the required project.
- Produce specification sheets for required
instrumentation.
- Prepare purchase orders/requisitions.
- Produce I/O schematics.
- Develop control system narratives.
- Develop shutdown keys.
- Oversee programming of PLC/DCS control systems.
- Field commissioning and start-ups
- Responsible for identifying, reporting and assisting with
reconciling any deviation to project standards, practices, policies and
specifications.
- Mentor junior personnel.
- Working within project manhour budgets and schedules.
Credentials:

Technical certification in Instrumentation from an
accredited institution.

First hand engineering knowledge of PLC/DCS controls as it
relates to all types of facilities that require automation.

Strong working knowledge of instrumentation as it relates
to all types of facilities that require automation.

Experience at preparing estimates for the Instrumentation
and Controls portions of a project.

Experience overseeing all aspects of the project,
including designing and commissioning.

Strong working background with PLC's such as Allen
Bradley, Modicon, GE Fanuc.

Strong working background with HMI's such as GE,
Wonderware, Panelview.

Minimum 10 years design experience.
